Meet the The Great White Pandas – the country’s cuddly mascot and see and walk atop the Great Wall of China.
Day 1 Beijing
Welcome to China! Welcome to the start of your holiday. Upon arrival transfer to hotel. Overnight – Beijing.
Day 2 Forbidden City
Today, we embark on a guided tour of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. We start in Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the world . By afternoon we go to navigate the old back lanes and courtyards of the Hutongs. Tonight, a death defying Chinese acrobatic performance with welcome dinner. Overnight – Beijing.
Day 3 Great Wall of China
This morning we drive to Badaling to walk a section of the famous Great Wall. Said to be visible from space, the enduring symbol of Chinese civilisation and genius is a prized national treasure. Afterwards we head to our hotel near Juyongguan Pass. Overnight – Juyongguan Pass.
Day 4 Morning at the Great Wall
Beijing – Xi’an. A short walk this morning has us standing atop of the Juyongguan Pass, a section of the Great Wall. After we visit a Jade Carving Centre and have lunch before returning to Beijing. In the evening we board our train to Xi’an. Overnight – sleeper train.
Day 5 Xi’an and Big Wild Goose Pagoda
Arrive Xi’an, hotel check in and time to freshen up. Today we visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. After we enjoy a bike ride atop the Xi’an City Wall (electric car option available). Tonight you can opt to see the Tang Dynasty Show, with dinner and performance. Overnight – Xi’an.
Day 6 Terracotta Warriors
Xi’an – Chengdu. This morning we visit the Terracotta Warrior archaeological site. The Terracotta Army is Xi’an’s most popular sight and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. Late this afternoon we take a high speed train to Chengdu. Reaching Overnight – Chengdu.
Day 7 Panda Research Base
Today’s highlight is the famous Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Later we visit the Wenshu Monastery, built during the Qing Dynasty. The temple is a hidden gem with few tourists visiting. Overnight – Chengdu.
Day 8 Giant Buddha of Leshan
Driving to Leshan our morning is spent exploring the UNESCO-listed Great Buddha, which is carved into the red sandstone face of Lingyun Hill overlooking the confluence of the Min, Qingyi and Dadu rivers below it. This evening offers free time. Overnight – Chengdu.
Days 9 – 11 Guilin and Yangshuo
Chengdu – Yangshuo. Early this morning we fly to Guilin where we’ll drive out to Longsheng for a tour of the spectacular terraces of the Dragon’s Backbone. Reaching the ‘Seven Stars accompanying Moon’ lookout, soak up the spectacular views. Later we head to Yangshuo for the night. Overnight – Yangshuo.
Days 12 & 13 Shanghai
Yangshuo – Shanghai. This morning we drive to Guilin and fly onward to Shanghai. Upon arrival enjoy the next two days at leisure exploring this cosmopolitan city. Overnight – Shanghai.
Day 14 Shanghai
Our time in China comes to an end today. Following breakfast and hotel check-out a transfer will take you to the airport for your onward travel.
